How to Get Rid of Moles

Moles are burrowing insectivorous creatures that look like mice in appearance. They dig new feeding tunnels regularly, and they can destroy plants roots in a garden to an extent that crops end up being devastated completely. They eat insects, and they also feed on leaves of crops which is why people need to get rid of them before they multiply and become many in the farm. Eliminating them is hard because they dig different tunnels and they don’t use the same tunnel always which is why you need to perfectly strategize when it comes to eliminating these creatures from your farm or garden.

Use of Repellants to Keep Moles Away
Repellants are a natural and non-harmful ways of making sure that you scare the moles away from your compound or garden. You can first plant vegetative plants which will make them incapable of moving freely in the garden. These plants include daffodils, marigolds, alliums, and fritillaries that will make your garden unconducive for the moles. You can also keep high pitch sound and light in your garden so that you keep these creatures away from your garden. Repellants don’t work for long; they are a means of holding them back as you prepare for more intensive methods to get rid of them.

Traps for the Animals
Being small-sized animals, it is easy to capture them using traps. Look at the areas where there is a lot of damage and set your trap in that region. Make sure that you bait your traps so that you direct them there. You can use the mouse traps, or you can use the funnel traps with one-way exit. Revisit your traps so that you unplug any captured mole and reset it to wait for the next mole. Traps eliminate moles slowly, but with time, you can evacuate many of them.

Build Fences around Your Compound
Moles like digging underground and eating the roots of plants thereby killing them. Make sure that you put underground fences so that you keep them away. This is what will make you prevent them from accessing your compound. You can as well poison them because when they die and rot in the garden, they are also a good source of manure in your garden. Make early interventions so that you eliminate them before they grow many in the garden. It is easy to control them when they are still few.

Moles are destructive, and when left in the compound, they could damage a lot of things. You should first detect them by noticing their tunnels which they dig every time they come inside the farm. They are not harmful to human beings, but they can carry pathogens with them, therefore, make sure that you wear gloves when handling them. This is the best way to ensure that you keep safe. These animals multiply at a quick speed and within a short time; you might find the whole garden completely invaded. You can as well raise a cat that will be feasting them in the garden.
