Mole Prevention Tips: How to Keep Moles Away

Do you have a gorgeous emerald garden being infested with moles? Moles are experts at getting rid of insect and worm populations in the garden. The fence must be dug at not less than twenty-four inches. It should also have a height of up to six inches and should extend to all sides of the garden. It will help prevent mole entrance from any angle. To prevent the small rodents from climbing bend the fence as ninety degrees.

It does not rust therefore robust and does not break easily to create a way for moles. Example of galvanizing materials includes stainless steels and aluminum sheathing. The materials are durable and strong and will work well for moles compared to the chicken wire mesh.

Natural Remedies
Some of the natural remedies include castor oil and plant garlic, onion or chocolate lilies.

Castor oil
Moles have poor eyesight but a powerful sense of smell. Fortunately, you can use their sense of smell against them. You can make castor oil liquid using a gallon of water, two tablespoons of dish soap and a cup of Castrol oil. Moles cannot bear the smell of this fluid. Just apply it monthly or after any rainy season to keep of the moles.

Mole Repellent Plants
Moreover, you can plant bulb plants like garlic, onion or chocolate lilies to get rid of moles. They don’t usually love the smell and taste of these plants. The little rodents also don’t like marigolds and caper spurge plant. All these vegetation will go a long way to convincing moles form leaving your property.

Live Traps
Furthermore, you can also use live traps to get rid of destructive moles. Place the trap in their most active hole. To know the commonly used tunnel flatten the soils on to and if the next day you notice a heap of dirt then this is the tunnel to use. Ensure to cover the trap to prevent the rodent from seeing what it is walking into. Once you trap the mole, relocate it far away from your beautiful garden.

Moles are insectivorous and may help you get rid of insects and earthworms in your lawn. However, they can damage your garden beyond repair. Therefore it is highly advisable to get rid of them as soon as possible.
