Different Types of Mole Traps and How to Use Them

Moles are a nuisance especially when you have invested in maintaining a lawn, or when you have grown some crops in your kitchen garden. They are good at digging, and they live underground feeding on the roots and stem of plants planted. Therefore, it is important to plan on how to get rid of the moles so that they don’t destroy the crops and especially your lawn. When they chew on the roots of the plants, your crops will dry up, and it can be a huge loss. On the loan, they will leave hills of soils after digging and therefore no one wants to have them in the house compound. Here are some of the traps you can use to get rid of the moles.



Duffus Tunnel Mole Trap
This is a metallic round shaped also known as the tunnel trap and has been in use for several years now. It is one of the recommended mole traps used by professionals. The design of the Duffus tunnel mole trap makes it one of the best traps. It is a powerful trap, and the spring that it comes with makes it more powerful. The spring action will kill the mole once it comes to the trap. One advantage of the trap is that it has the potential to catch up to two moles at a go. The half tunnel design is what makes the Duffus mole trap the best trap for use against the moles. You can cover the trap using the soil from the mole's tunnel, and hence the moles will not easily see the trap when it is covered.

To use Duffus traps, you set the trap where you have located the mole. Dig up a small section of the mole tunnel, just the size of the trap and carefully set the trap. Don’t forget to cover the trap with some soil so that it can camouflage the trap. It is also advisable you apply mad on the trap so that the metallic section is completely covered. The advantage of this mole trap is that it is very easy to use and has a powerful spring that makes it kill the moles instantly.

Mole Scissor Trap
This is easy to use mole trap, but should not be used on stony soils. It is also [popular and has been used for many years by professional mole trappers. The simple design makes it an easy to use mole trap. You can monitor this trap from a distance and be able to determine if the trap has worked or not yet. In fact, this is one of the reasons why people like using the trap.

To use the mole scissor trap, you need to know where the mole is. You will then dig some small section using a trowel and position the trap well so that it is as sensitive as possible. This trap is very successful but limited for use in places where there are no rocks.

When you trap the mole, you can reuse the traps in case you sight more mole signs after trapping the first one.
