These snakes originated from south East Asia and now they are frequently spotted in south Florida. So far, over 2,000 pythons have been taken away from within and around the park since the year 2002. This could be a representation of the actual population of the pythons in the area.

Today, researchers are using radio receivers so as to be able to track the pythons in the area. The receivers are also able to track the creatures all over the wilderness. In the last decade, the national park has been able to work with other partner agencies so as to find any potential methods that can be used so as to manage the population. There are lots of studies published so far so as to describe just how the invaders are affecting the landscape. It may not be possible to eradicate the pythons completely from the area but the residents have a role to play so as to stop the spread and the establishment of the same.
