What equipment is needed to trap a rat?

Trapping a rat using various types of traps requires some effort, and it can be done successfully if you use the good quality equipment. What kind of equipment will you need to trap a rat depends solely on the type of traps you choose. In most cases, trapping rats is successful if the whole process is thought out carefully, and good quality traps are set up in those spots that rats use to move around the most. Once you decide to start trapping rats, the first thing you are going to have to do is discover exact routes that rats use to move around the most. These are going to have to be those places where you will set up your traps. The next thing you are going to have to do is make sure that you chose an appropriate bait to place inside your trap. A good bait will attract only rats, and what you want to pay attention to is not trap other animals, like yours or your neighbour's pet.

Now, once you got ready to perform the trapping, the most important piece of equipment you are going to need is a good quality trap. The one you will choose depends on whether or not you want to kill those rats after trapping them. You can choose between death traps or one-way-entry door traps. If you choose death traps, you are going to have to purchase a larger number of traps, because rats usually come in a larger number. You are going to have to set up these traps in the areas where rats move around the most, and place the bait inside. If you decide to use one-way-entry door traps, you are also going to have to buy several of those, depending on the number of rats you've identified in your home. You are also going to need a bait for those.

You are going to need a few more pieces of equipment when handling trapped rats. First things first, you are going to need a pair of gloves, to protect yourself from any infections or injuries while handling trapped rats. Another thing to consider is that you might inhale bacteria from rat feces while removing them from your home, so you might need a protective mask as well. You can never be too cautious! Last, but not the least, you should purchase cleaning tools and supplies, so that you are able to disinfect your home thoroughly after you've removed the rats from your home.
