Springfield wildlife control tip of the month: Nuisance critter in homes - what the experts should do! - Do you have a problem with the bizarre creature that is the nuisance critter? Is this creature somehow making its way into your home and driving you potty? There is no need to fear, however - help is at hand! You need to give the local animal control experts a call! To ensure that you get the best out of your animal control experience, you are going to want to make sure that you are choosing the right company. This means picking a company that not only gets the job done, but also gives you a certain amount of aftercare to avoid the problems from happening again in the future. Starting with the aftercare, you should look for a company that offers you advice on what to do to ensure the problem doesn't return with a vengeance. Also, they should be looking at doing things such as filling up holes to ensure the nuisance critters, as well as various other wild animals, cannot gain access to your home any longer. You should also check them out to see if they offer services such as removing the scents the nuisance critters leave behind in order to mark their territory, as well as any urine or feces that it may have left as a reminder in your home. How will the company actually get rid of the nuisance critter or nuisance critters? Kill traps may be an effective method but isn't exactly humane. Poisons should be avoided at all costs. Ideally, you will want to use a company that uses humane methods of removal, such as traps that allow the animal to be released in a safe and LEGAL environment once it has been successfully caught.
Reader mail feedback: I read your info. on repellents not having any effect on rats already present. Are you familiar with a product called SKOOT? Could this possibly help with deterring new rats from coming in? I have a 2-storey home with a drywall finished ceiling. There are 2 small, metal hinged, plumbing access doors (about 12" x 12") on the ceiling and another 2 in the lower part of the walls. I'm assuming what I hear at night are rats rather than mice because the running noises sound like they're coming from something large. Last winter I could hear them chasing each other around. I put some poison through the access doors (before reading your site) and yes, the odor was horrible. Any advice given my specifics?
Reader mail feedback: I have checked out your website (www.attic-rat.com), its great help and i really appreciate that you have willingly spent time into such a non-profitable project. Really, I cannot thank you enough. However, I have a problem that i need your assistance/opinion about. I hear crawling and scratching in the ceiling of my basement (at night, so I'm assuming its rats or mice) and CANNOT figure out a way to setting traps, poison or anything that will take care of them without actually ripping up a hole in the ceiling. I do not want to damage my ceiling since it will be a pain to repair it, besides being costly. What would you do if you were in my situation? further, do those high pitch devices work in my situation? is there any solution other than ripping off part of ceiling to set traps? I really appreciate your help and again, i really cannot thank you enough. Thanks in advance.
Reader mail feedback: Hi Wildlife Removal USA, I hear squeaking and scratching in the wall that is between my bathroom and kitchen. Every day when I go to work in the morning I have to wipe down my desk because there is feces ecerywhere. I don't have any food around, but they keep leavin there mark. they also have done it all over the other girl in my office desks. It has been going on for months and we both have been sick lots. With headaches , vomiting and diaherria. One day I noticed it all over the edge of her file folders. I dont know if she had been touching them on a regular basis or not but right on her desk. What should I do. What are my health risks? We have tried traps in the attic and we have cut several holes in the wall. We do not see evidence of rodents (i.e. droppings). Our pesticide man said he thinks they are coming under the house beside the pipes. Is this possible (I guess anything is possible!) ? Do you have any suggestions? This has been a problem for months and I am worried about wires etc. Do you have suggestions about how to locate a reputable exterminator? We live in Springfield MO Thank you, Lisa
